The Black Dagger Brotherhood Question

Why is Darius the only one with a "normal" name?

I've always wondered why Darius had such a "human" name compared to all the other warriors. Was there any mention of a different name for him in the series anywhere?

Because he was an aristocrat and not many become Brothers but his mother was a Chosen. And aristocrats normally dont give their children the names like the brothers. :)

You can't be a brother unless your mother was a chosen.

Not true...Butch became a brother. A sign that the old ways are changing under Wrath's rule

Actually, he's the stepson of an Aristocrat (who later kicked him out after his Chosen mother died)

Hmmm...I'm not sure. It might have something to do with that Darius was born a princeps and so he had a more normal name and not a warrior name.

Not sure but I thought Darius is rooted loosely from 'dark one'

Quite a bit late. But Darius' biological father was the Brother Tehrror. His Chosen mother mated Marklon (a member of the Glymera). Marklon raised him, but always held a hatred for him. So when Darius' mother died, Marklon basically disowned him and sent him to live at the Bloodletter camp. Don't know why he still went by "Darius of Marklon" even after being kicked out by his stepdad.
